Student Email Conversion
In our efforts to offer the latest technology, Northern Maine Community College is pleased to announce that we will be implementing Microsoft Office 365 starting this fall. This initiative will give our students, faculty and staff free access to the latest releases of Microsoft’s Office 365 software.
The initial rollout of Office 365 began last summer with the migration of faculty and staff email to Microsoft’s Office 365 email servers.
The second phase of our Office 365 rollout will involve creating new student Microsoft Office 365 email accounts for students enrolled during the 1516 and 1617 academic year. These new accounts are necessary for you to access the Office 365 software.
What this means to you:
- Your NMCC Gmail account will still be active, although all new communication to and from NMCC will be done via your Microsoft Office 365 email account.
- There are currently no migration tools available to move your Gmail correspondences to your Office 365 email account.
- The only part of your email address that will change is the part after the @ symbol. Your new email address will end with @fpmfy.com instead of @gs.fpmfy.com. The part before the @ symbol will remain the same. For example, jdoe10@gs.fpmfy.com will now become jdoe10@fpmfy.com.
- Your Office 365 account login consists of your new email address and your initial default password.
